Fiscally-sponsored Projects:
Jetpack City (working title) - Jetpack City is a feature documentary focusing on the legacy of Washington State's space industry and its future. The film examines how where we’re from influences where we’re going—how might our next evolution as a space-faring people be influenced by the unique regions where we’re from on Earth? As we review Washington State’s incredible past in scientific discoveries and space engineering, we examine how Washington’s present-day space community is influenced by the region itself and the audience will be inspired to imagine how their home, their region and its culture, might influence how we go to space both as a species and from our own hometowns.
Who Will Speak for the Trees? (working title) - This film investigates climate tech, strategies, campaigns, and activism that are constituting a new wave of climate hope. Climate doom, while understandable, is just as ineffective as climate denial. We want to create either a film or a series that looks at not just the dire situation we're in, but looks at all the ways people are innovating or using direct action to create positive change.
PROGRAMS:
S.H.A.R.E - Run by filmmaker and activist, Lindy Boustedt, this program focuses on training incarcerated women and youth with the skills to create films that speak to their experiences and serve their communities. Read more about this amazing program on the SHARE website.
Pacific Northwest Nonfiction Micro Grants - We will be offering five mini-grants of $1000 each to nonfiction storytellers who want to examine a PNW-based story focused on an issue that is impacting either the environment or vulnerable communities. Applications will open in fall 2025.
Classes:
Grant Writing for 4Culture // February 22, 2025 - For King County Washington residents, this two hour class will go over the ins and outs of writing a grant for 4Culture, ahead of their March deadline for $15,000 for heritage and arts projects for individuals and organizations. While this is a great opportunity for nonfiction storytellers (film, prose, or photography), artists specializing in narrative, visual, and performance forms are welcome too. Again, this is a King County specific grant, so those signing up to take it should be from that area as well. Office hours are being offered too, if the class doesn’t work for you. Signups and inquiries are available through our contact form.
Grant Writing for Nonfiction Projects // tbd - We offer this class periodically, focusing on the ins and outs of grant writing for nonfiction storytelling. Signups and inquiries are available through our contact form.
We are currently not taking applications for unsolicited films or programs for fiscal sponsorship.
